In 2021 the CR-V was treated to an update which included a subtly updated exterior look to ensure that it continues to appeal to a wide customer base.

At the same time a realignment of the range saw changes to the drivetrain and specifications of the 1.5T Executive which is now available as a front-wheel drive model, while still benefitting from the all-inclusive strategy that Honda has become renowned for.

The front end of the CR-V is dominated by a broad-barred grille that is framed by curved, slimline headlights with integrated daytime running lights. Dual air intakes with a dark meshed finish split the colour coded bumper while a metallic scuff plate underlines its SUV identity. From the side, the CR-Vs aerodynamic silhouette is accentuated by a smooth roofline with integrated roof rails, a curved waistline and raked rear screen.

At the rear, inverted LED taillight clusters are linked by a chrome garnish strip and positioned high up on the tailgate. Contrasting protective cladding on the lower sections of the body panels as well as pronounced wheel arch extensions, add to the rugged look.

Th cabin is an altogether more pleasant place to be with high-quality materials and finishes, soft touch surfaces, matt alloy ascents and attractive stitching are complemented by a user-friendly layout.

One of the key interior highlights is the full colour TFT driver information interface located directly ahead of the driver. Depending on the model a five or seven-inch display provides user friendly access to the CR-Vs infotainment system.

The CR-V is available with two drivetrain options, including the 2,0-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine that offers 113kW at 6 500rpm and 189Nm at 4 300rpm, linked to a CVT Transmission.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged model delivers 140kW at 5 600rpm and 240Nm from 2000rpm and it too is mated to a CVT gearbox.

Class leading safety

The CR-V incorporates Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, which ensures the highest level of collision safety by dissipating impact energy and retaining the integrity of the passenger safety cell.

Standard active and passive safety features include dual front and side SRS airbags, curtain airbags, three-point inertia reel seatbelts all round and Isofix child seat anchor points in the rear. Automatic brake hold is part of the package, as are ABS brakes with EBD, Agile Handling Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist and Hill Start Assist systems.

Also included is a Driver Attention Monitor that measures driver attention and delivers audible and tactile alerts in reaction to the monitoring and assessing of driver behaviour behind the wheel. This system uses data from the electric power steering to measure the frequency and severity of the driver’s steering inputs to determine the drivers’ level of awareness.

Remote central locking with speed sensitive auto door locking and selective unlocking and as well as an immobiliser with integrated alarm are among the CR-Vs security features.

The range topping 1.5 T Exclusive builds on this comprehensive level of safety equipment with the addition of Honda’s Advanced Driver Assist Systems, which include a variety of active systems aimed at assisting drivers in dealing with hazardous driving conditions.

Collectively known as Honda Sensing these systems include Collision Mitigation Braking with Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed following and Lane Keeping Assist. Additional cutting-edge driver-assistance technologies include LaneWatch and Auto High Beam headlights.
