An extremely versatile interior

The spacious interior has a solid, premium SUV feel to it that is finished with contemporary fabrics and soft-touch materials. A modern, minimalistic interior aesthetic is created by the horizontal sweep of the instrument panel and clean lines and surfaces throughout

Although similar in size to its predecessor, the latest HR-V offers greater leg and shoulder room while clever packaging has allowed Honda to retain the versatile Magic Seat set-up, that offers both fold-flat and flip-up seat flexibility, depending on the load space required.

Important SUV attributes such as loading convenience are enhanced by a hands-free power tailgate and walk away close function with the smart key proximity function that detects when the key is moving away from the car, to automatically start closing the tailgate.

Interior practicality features include a large centre cubby that fits items large and small as well as two USB charging sockets in the front and two in the back, in addition to a wireless charging pad.

The interior is home to a high resolution eight-inch touch-screen display audio system which has been neatly integrated into the instrument panel and gives users the full functionality of their smartphone via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The high-quality audio system includes four speakers on the Comfort model and eight speakers on the top of the range Executive derivative.

The driver is also able to operate and determine how much driver assistance information is displayed on the 4.2-inch LCD instrument binnacle. On Executive derivatives Honda’s Lanewatch camera provides drivers with a clear view of the vehicle’s blind spot, displayed onto the central infotainment system.

Under the bonnet

During development Honda’s engineers analysed every detail of the HR-V driving experience in order to maximise driver enjoyment and comfort, which included extensive suspension, steering and braking enhancements

Under the bonnet is a new generation 1.5-litre DOHC-VTEC petrol engine that offers 89kW at 6 600rpm and 145Nm at 4 300rpm. Impressively it will use just 6,0 litres/100km on the combined cycle.

The HR-V boasts the latest in safety and driver assistance systems including Vehicle Stability Assist, Brake Assist System, Automatic Brake Hold and Hill Descent Control. The HR-V is fitted with front, side and curtain SRS airbags totalling four on Comfort models and six on Executive models. In addition Executive derivatives are fitted with Honda Sensing which adds Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation and Auto High-Beam.
